Ketoconazole Archives
My daughter is 11 years old. She has a small rash on her face, we’ve been to the doctor multiple times and they have not yet found what it might be. They think it might be milk eczema but we are not sure. They gave her a cream to use called Ketoconazole. The rash is very close to her lip but it is possible she got it in her mouth, she’s not sure. At about 11:00, (she put the cream on the rash at about 6:00ish for the 2nd time since she got the cream) she vomited up all of her food and she has been constantly vomiting since then. She literally has not slept and is throwing up non stop and I don’t know how to help her. She has gone to the bathroom (urinated only) one time this morning. After she threw up all her food she started throwing up green, I have no idea what this means, maybe the bile in her stomach? I am completely lost. The things she ate the hours before she threw up were: a hamburger (positive it was fully cooked, the rest of the family ate them and were fine) peanut butter apples cinnamon raisin toast with butter
I am also worried it could be the salmonella poisoning that’s going around in peanut butter because she ate a TON of it. Any suggestions would be nice.
Note: I have already contacted a doctor I just want to see if there are any other ideas.
Hi everyone !
I’ve been using KETOCONAZOLE 2% CREAM, in my face, like my dermatologist told me too.. at the beggining I’ve never had no side effects from using it , but from the past days my face has been burning, itching and its all red ..
What does that mean ??? Is that a sign that my skin is getting better, or is this bad ??
Has anyone ever used this cream ??? If so, did it do any good on your skin ???
Please I need help, I already set-up an emergency appointment with my dermatologist for tomorrow at 8am, but i’m worried !
I guess I was feeling better when I wasnt using this cream on my face
I’m super sad … =/
by the way, the cream its suppose to be for something called seborrheic dermatitis , that my dermo "thinks" i have on my face …. =(
I have a holland lop who is 4 years old. Her apetite has always been great, but she has had an excessive urination problem for 2 months now and she has had no fur around her butt, hind legs, and tail. So, I took her to see a vet who prescribed me an antibiotic called "sulfadimet 50mg"for 10 days. I gave it to her and I thought she was getting better, so I stupidly stopped it after the 4th day, and sure enough, the symptoms came back again. So, the vet prescribed me a different kind of antibiotic called "enrofox 27.2mg" because he had mentioned that she was already immune to the other antibiotic. I have her this one, but nothing changed. Her symptoms were still the same. She took a urine test and a blood test, both of which were very positive results. So, the vet assumed she had some fungus growing on her skin and prescribed me a medicine called "ketoconazole 200 mg" and an ointment for her skin called "conofite". I was starting to get worried and went to a vet that my friend had recommended me to, and they mentioned to me that we have to get to the "core" of the problem. We took xrays and found out that she had a spinal problem that was causing her to lose muscle, and had ulcers on her hind legs. The vet mentioned that because of this, she could be urinating on herself causing her skin to worsen. (I usually only use a shee-shee sheet in her cage. My rabbit used to use the potty bin, but ever since this problem she won’t use the potty in there anymore.) The vet figured that the skin problem arises from her sitting on the sheet (the sheet gets so soaked up with urine). So, the vet told me to continue with the antibiotics that the other vet recommended - enrofax. She also prescribed me an anti-inflammatory for her bones which will help her build muscle - luckily, she didn’t have arthiritis.
I am getting very scared and am wondering if I should stick to the vet that I changed to.
It’s been 4 days since I started the antibiotic - enrofox, but I haven’t seen much change. Should I be patient and wait until the effects start kicking in? Or, will it ever kick in? Does it take this long for an antibiotic to work?
I also recently got a dog about 5 months ago and am not sure if this affected the way my rabbit reacted. The vet recommended that I put soft cushioing in her cage for now so that the ulcers on her soles won’t hurt as much. It’s exactly what I did. I’m just very worried and can’t really focus on my work. Does anybody who may have experienced something like this have any advice? I would certainly appreciate it.
I have been experiencing a rash over the past 2 weeks. Now, it started off with just a small bump, that got bigger and then turned into a cigar-burn look. Now i’m covered in them, on my legs, face, arms, stomache. I went to the ER last week and they diagnosed me with pityrasis rosea. Then I got into the doctors today…and they did some testing and it’s a fungal infection. They perscribed me ketoconazole cream (along with some antibiotics) which is controlling my itching urges wonderfully, however the rash is now becoming scabby, is this good or bad? Will I have marks/scars left when this rash is gone?
Thanks for your anwsers, but only the one patch was large, the rest of them are small…but have the same features…do i still have a chance that they won’t scar?
This started in January. We took in our fawn color Pug because she had a small round black spot on top of her paw and a semi-circular black spot on her hind leg - she also had a red crusty splotch on the inside of the same hind leg about the size of a half dollar. Vet took hairs for ringworm test and said to bathe her in Malaseb Shampoo twice a week and use Clotrimazole 1%. Didn’t help and Vet couldn’t say for sure it was or wasn’t ringworm - sample didn’t turn but grew fungus? Vet gave us Clavamox 62.5 mg twice a day plus continue with the other stuff. Still hasn’t cleared up - Vet is now prescribing Ketoconazole 200 mg Tabs 1/2 tab a day and Miconazole NIT cream 2% instead of the Clotrimazole 1% cream. But we still bathe her and give her the rest of the Clavamox pills until they’re gone. Does it sound like ringworm? or something else? How long will it take ringworm to clear up? It hasn’t gotten any better or worse. It’s still the same as it was when we started.
FUZZY-WUZZY WUZA NEWF - I’m sorry, but what can I ask? They told me they thought it was ringworm and pulled some hairs. I called them three times while waiting on the diagnoses and all they could say was it never turned but developed fungus. They put her on some other treatment and still said they thought it was ringworm and to try this new course of treatment. I called again and they still say they think it’s ringworm and to try this new course of treatment and then bring her back in after 4 weeks. What else should I ask the vet? I keep calling and they keep telling me they think it’s ringworm but it never turned.
Thank you for the info on that new pill - I’ll wait on that and just do the 4x a day anti-fungal cream with the 3x a week bath. I didn’t know all the side effects that pill had. Thank you for alerting me - I looked it up on-line.
Thank you for the suggestion … I am going to wait on the pill and do the 4x a day anti-fungal with the 3x a week bath. Hopefully, it will clear up.
CAT S and shauna - Thank you … I had no idea ringworm took so long to clear up. I guess I thought it should be gone by now. I’ve been watching our little male Pug and so far, he’s ok … but he has been getting the same bath she does. He gets his bath just before she gets hers. The vet made that suggestion since they’re always together.
i am doing a report and i need to know what would happen if you took one of these meds that was not for you… what would happen if you took(over dose) not all of them at the same time.. but on pill of one and what will happen.

I have a spot of tinea versicolor on my back. (It’s a fungal infection that causes the spot of skin to lose its pigmentation). I have tried treating it with selenium sulfide dandruff shampoo, but that didn’t seem to have any effect on it. My doctor prescribed Nizoral (ketoconazole) pills to try to treat it orally — however, the Nizoral has a lot of possible side effects, and you have to sweat when you take it in order to get the medicine to your skin. So I’m a little worried about starting the Nizoral treatment. However, I want to get rid of this before I get my summer tan, because tanning makes it really show up (since that patch of skin doesn’t tan).
Has anyone had this? Did you cure it? How did you cure it? If you took Nizoral, did you have any side effects, and did it work? Thanks!
Hi!
For the past 2 weeks, my hamster’s skin has been flaky and a little reddish, he’s also dropping fur and has a weird odor. I brought it to the vet a week ago and she says that it has an yeast infection. What is it and what causes it? She did skin scrapping and prescribed my hamster with Bacidin to clean the affected areas, and a cream, as well as an oral medication called Ketoconazole. However, my hamster still seems to be itching all the time and there seems to be little improvement. Is there anything i can do to aid my hamster’s recovery? : (
Thanks a bunch!
They had to put her to sleep. They used a Torb/Ace/Atropine Sedative and isoflurane Anesthesia. They did a deep ear bilateral flush and took photos. They sent me home with Morphine, Rimadyle, Batril, Ketoconazole. This is the first day since the surgery and I just noticed a lump on her chest, just down from her neck. I know it was not there before because I pet my dog on her chest daily and noticed it immediately late last night. What is it and how could this have happened?
Thank you for your responses. The lump is soft, feels fatty, doesn’t seem to bother her at all. I am not sure if they gave her fluids or not. They said they did a Betadine flush. I noticed the lump as soon as I got her home and took off her harness. They brought her out in her harness and it was closing time. I tried calling but they said to bring her in tomorrow and said they didn’t notice it. I don’t see how that is possible though. It is big and obvious. She seems to be fine when I touch it.
