Our poor dog has had two toenails removed by our vet due to the above. Other toenails look as though they are going in the same direction. I do not think this is due to an injury, as all of his toenails look questionable. The vet prescribed ketoconazole, which I think is for what she thinks is a fungal infection. I have not noticed any changes since he has been taking the meds (1 week) and I think it is likely he will eventually lose all his nails. This has been traumatic to our dog and he has begun having accidents in the house, likely because it has been too painful for him to go outside to do his business (we have ordered booties and are awaiting their arrival). Any thoughts/suggestions? Help!

I have that fungal infection on my skin (Tinea versicolor) on my back and stomache. And I’ve been using Selenium sulfide 2.5% and miconzole nitrate 2.5% since last October. I stopped using it for about a month in January though, and I also took Ketoconazole 200Mg tablets for 30days. I can still see the white patches although they’ve faded.
Is the fungus still there.. or my skin just hasn’t recovered it’s color?
Oh I had it around 4 years ago, but it successfully went away after a couple of months with this lotion thing.

alright so i have to do a project where we pick a disease (made up or real) and make a made up "cure" for it using biology and chemistry terms. For example my disease is ear wax. the type of ear wax you have is hereditary, either wet or dry, but i have noticed alot of people suffer from dry ear wax that is very itchy and flaky, in other words we can call it seborrheic dermatitis in the ear. so ear wax is a lipid and my teacher said something about salt water(sodium) so i need to know how salt water affets lipids or ear wax. also my theory is if i combind saltwater, peroxide?, and ketoconazole 2% in the form of a drop will it loosen then ear wax so you can just take a q-tip and get it out, while controlling the dermititis part. Will this work? and how will peroxide interact ear wax or lipids.

my dog has valley fever, but the vet has very little knowledge of the disease. i had to insist on a test since they were convinced he had kennel cough and a neck injury that was causing lameness. however, my dog is a parson jack russell and weighs 25 pounds. he is currently taking diflucan 50mg twice a day; is this the right dose? he was on ketoconazole 100mg twice a day for three weeks. he was doing well and was up and moving around much better. since he went on the diflucan a few days ago his lameness and twiches has increased greatly. i increased his dose of diflucan to 100mg twice a day now…since i won’t be able to get to the vet for a few days. also, how long should his lameness continue? thanks…

my 8 year dachshund passed away on thxgiving. i knew the time would come when she would but i just didnt think that sudden. she had cushings syndrome and i believe she had it for about 2 years til i finally took her to the vet, (cuz i just thought she got really fat, thats why it took me so long to take her) anyway, the vet put her on ketoconazole, started 1/4 of a tab, twice a day for a week and she was fine the first week, the second week was a half a tab twice a day, took her back in for a recheck, her breathing was really shallow and hard, like she couldnt catch her breath, he said he had never seen the biotics do that and he would check her blood in a week. a day later she died!! can anyone tell me what happened to her?! im very sad about her dieing it was just too sudden

So about 4 months ago i have been experiencing some weird, short, burning, 30sec, irritated feelings on one part of my little guy. It happens basically everyday but not all the time. I’ve been tested for the basic StDs but not herpes. I havent had any sores or anything like that. Just a little red irritated patches that are really hard to notice. My Dr. said it was prob from my soap or detergent so i changed both and it still bothers me. I’ve applied hydorcortosone, ketoconazole (usually used for jock itch) and now im trying desitin cream. I’m tired of going to the health clinic and my Dr. cause i feel one embarrassed and two like im annoying them. I really need to figure this out cause it is ruining my sex life… Can ANYONE please help me?

P.S. I had unprotected sex (stupid i know) with 2 different ppl. One of them was a year ago and only happened once and the other was about 6 months ago, that happened twice.

About 2 years ago, I rescued a little Shih Tzu with quite a few medical problems. She has epilepsy, which is now under control.. but her worst problems are her re-occurring yeast infections & skin allergies.

My vet and I have exhausted all of our options. She’s on a very specialized diet..which has pretty much eliminated her skin allergies.. but I can’t seem to beat the yeast infections and it’s driving me crazy.
I do a yeast-controlling, medicated shampoo bath a few times a week..which helps very temporarily.

So far, the only thing that has worked is the medication ketoconazole. However, my dog can only take this medication for extreme flare-ups as, paired with the phenobarbital for her seizures, is quite hard on her little liver.

Any ideas or suggestions are VERY much appreciated. I’m at a loss here.

I was daignosed with it like 3 years ago and the Doctor precribed ketoconazole shampoo 2% and fluocinonide acetonide topical solution and while i was on the medication there was hair growth but i used henna and it reacted badly which caused discoloration and losing any hair that i gained..So my question is..is it still possible i can see hair growth? and plz dont copy past anything from wikipedia or other websites

I have Scalp Psoriasis, it’s minor, but you don’t know how embarassing it is to flake out in public! The pharmacist recommended me Beprosalic ointment ( Betamethasone dipropionate + Salicylic Acid) but I don’t think it works, and I really can’t be bothered spraying that onto my whole scalp, it would take hours!

I was wondering where Nizoral helps? I’m planning to get Nizoral shampoo. Do you think I should be on ketoconazole tablets? They’re steroids, but I don’t know.. I have some on my body too. 10 points for the best answer.
