My fish has a fungal infection I've treated him but i don't think he is getting better can anyone help?

I got two fancy gold fish at the same time and put them in the big tank i have at home. I noticed that the smaller of the two had a small grayish white patch on his side after a few days it had turned into a small hole that was red and fleshy. Then i noticed that hes had a white sort of fluffy growth on his mouth, so i took him out of the big tank and put him in a small hospital tank. I treated him with something i brought from my local aquarium shop for fungal infection and fin rot. After two weeks he was getting no better and seemed to be a bit depressed, as I had read that fungal infections and fin rot where made worst with stress i put him back into the big tank where he seems to be a lot happier but is still really suffering with the infection and has now got a new whites patch on his head and the hole in is side is really big, the growth on is lip is really bad also one of his back little fins has been eaten away. I have been treating the big tank but his still no better is there ANYTHING else that i can do or is he going die? and will all the other fish in the tank catch it?

what did you treat it with? the petstore near me tried to sell me pimifix and melafix to fix this problem recently, those meds would never have fixed it, im glad i had enough experiance to know that, you need to find some maracyn. or a fish form of eurythromycin. treat it seperately from healthy fish, as the meds are bad for there health, but can cure your problem. all mine got better as of 2 days ago. THANK GOODNESS! follow the directions on the package exactly.
