I’ve had three colds in the past 5-6 months or so, and each time I ended up getting an ear infection around the 4th or 5th day of my infection. Right now, my ear is blocking again and I fear I have yet another ear infection! What could cause this, and should I take antibiotics again?
How does treatment for a bacterial infection differ from treatment for a virus?
A. You can treat bacterial infections, not viruses, with antibiotics.
B. You can treat viruses, not bacterial infections, with antibiotics.
C. You can treat viruses with antifungal medications.
D. There is no difference. You can treat both types of illnesses with antibiotics.
I have a holland lop who is 4 years old. Her apetite has always been great, but she has had an excessive urination problem for 2 months now and she has had no fur around her butt, hind legs, and tail. So, I took her to see a vet who prescribed me an antibiotic called "sulfadimet 50mg"for 10 days. I gave it to her and I thought she was getting better, so I stupidly stopped it after the 4th day, and sure enough, the symptoms came back again. So, the vet prescribed me a different kind of antibiotic called "enrofox 27.2mg" because he had mentioned that she was already immune to the other antibiotic. I have her this one, but nothing changed. Her symptoms were still the same. She took a urine test and a blood test, both of which were very positive results. So, the vet assumed she had some fungus growing on her skin and prescribed me a medicine called "ketoconazole 200 mg" and an ointment for her skin called "conofite". I was starting to get worried and went to a vet that my friend had recommended me to, and they mentioned to me that we have to get to the "core" of the problem. We took xrays and found out that she had a spinal problem that was causing her to lose muscle, and had ulcers on her hind legs. The vet mentioned that because of this, she could be urinating on herself causing her skin to worsen. (I usually only use a shee-shee sheet in her cage. My rabbit used to use the potty bin, but ever since this problem she won’t use the potty in there anymore.) The vet figured that the skin problem arises from her sitting on the sheet (the sheet gets so soaked up with urine). So, the vet told me to continue with the antibiotics that the other vet recommended - enrofax. She also prescribed me an anti-inflammatory for her bones which will help her build muscle - luckily, she didn’t have arthiritis.
I am getting very scared and am wondering if I should stick to the vet that I changed to.
It’s been 4 days since I started the antibiotic - enrofox, but I haven’t seen much change. Should I be patient and wait until the effects start kicking in? Or, will it ever kick in? Does it take this long for an antibiotic to work?
I also recently got a dog about 5 months ago and am not sure if this affected the way my rabbit reacted. The vet recommended that I put soft cushioing in her cage for now so that the ulcers on her soles won’t hurt as much. It’s exactly what I did. I’m just very worried and can’t really focus on my work. Does anybody who may have experienced something like this have any advice? I would certainly appreciate it.
I have been experiencing a rash over the past 2 weeks. Now, it started off with just a small bump, that got bigger and then turned into a cigar-burn look. Now i’m covered in them, on my legs, face, arms, stomache. I went to the ER last week and they diagnosed me with pityrasis rosea. Then I got into the doctors today…and they did some testing and it’s a fungal infection. They perscribed me ketoconazole cream (along with some antibiotics) which is controlling my itching urges wonderfully, however the rash is now becoming scabby, is this good or bad? Will I have marks/scars left when this rash is gone?
Thanks for your anwsers, but only the one patch was large, the rest of them are small…but have the same features…do i still have a chance that they won’t scar?
I read in a book about natural cures that there is a cure for candida however i no longer have acess to that book and i can’t find a website that doesn’t want to sell me something.
candida is a fungus and antibiotics actually cause it to be worse
I have a disease similar to diabeties and sclerodurma and renauds syndrome. the doctors want to call it the cameron’s disease. Whenever i get a little cut it will most likely get infected with staff or strep. The doctors give me medicine to get rid of the infection however most of the time it gets into the bone. The doctors then treat me with antibiotics then are forced to amputate whereever the infection was/is. I am thankfull that it is only my fingers and toe that are affected. At this time they tend to keep on getting shorter and shorter. So after all tht i was just curious if ratation therapy will kill the infection rather than loosing more ane more appendiges.
If food left outside became broken, is it still possible to eat it after some kind of processing?
For example if the smell of the food is bad or it’s being cowered with white "dust" which I would assume fungus. It’s not that I want to eat broken food, but just curious.
Also, if that white things are fungus, could it be possible to drink anti-fungal medicine as for example ketoconazole and then eat the food? Or if it’s the smell, does it mean that I can safely eat the food after taking antibiotics like ciprofloxacin?
Another question: would I boil the food would it destroy all bacteria/fungus making the food safe to be eaten then?
This question is purely for the research and it’s not joke.
What I mean, I understand that what we consider by visual, ei: molds are fungus, by smell is bacteria. And the other possibility are the toxins produced. That’s what I want to clarify, thanks
Please if anyone can tell me what symptoms are for viral and/or bacterial infection, sometimes doctors do not know or do not care enough and overprescribed antibiotics. Thanks for information.
I recently had a hang nail and I pulled it out, as a result I got a finger nail infection in which i needed to go to the hospital and get antibiotics. I just got another hang nail and I cut it off hoping to avoid the previous infection but the same "throbbing and hot" symptoms are appearing. I do not want another infection so is there anything I can do as preventative at this point?
I have a 2nd degree burn on my hand. There were three blisters which have burst leaving raw exposed skin.
What signs of infection should i look out for?
I have strep throat which caused my tonslitus…could this get in the wound and cause infection? I also have thrush form the amount of antibiotics ive been prescribed…could this cause infection?
It doesnt look infected but my hand feels stiff but i think this might just be because its burnt.
