I was diagnosed with Tinea Versicolor and was given a prescription of ketoconazole. So far, it’s been a week since I stopped treatment & I haven’t seen a difference. But usually it can take up to weeks before seeing any results.
I know most people who live in warm, humid environments are usually prone to it, and the fungus thrives in warm weather. I work-out and take warm showers, am I helping the infection return?
I’ve tried both Nizoral and Selsun Blue shampoo
Over the last 2 months I’ve developed (what my doctor has confirmed) to be tinea versicolor all over my upper arms. It started slow and all of a sudden the spots got bigger and eventually joined into bigger spots. I have a feeling I got it from a tanning bed. I started using selsun blue every day for the past 2 weeks and also for the past few weeks I’ve been taking daily doses of ketoconazole (oral nizoral), now as I’ve been told it can take months for the skin color/pigment to come back, but it just seems like every day its getting worse. Does anyone know of anything that works better and FASTER? i’m desperate, its so bad that I can’t even show my arms and have been forced to wear shirts that cover it up. I’d appreciate any advice or reassurance from anyone that knows about this!
I think I may have tinea versicolor on my chest but I am not sure. I have an area the size of a half dollar or so that has brownish colored spots on it. I am not sure if it is a skin fungus or another condition. I have only noticed it recently since the weather has become warmer. It is a little bumpy and dry. I tried scrubbing and exfoliating the area which irritated the skin and it became red (that’s when I really noticed the bumps that almost looked like tiny pimples). I put Vicks Vaporub on after (as this can treat nail fungus) and the redness disappeared and the brown spots returned. I am not sure what this is…. Any ideas? I have heard Monistat can be used for skin fungus infections caused by yeast. Any thoughts?
i have been treating my tinea versicolor with ketoconazole shampoo for a month now. still i have those ugly brown colored blotches.
when do i see results?
how do i know that i’ve successfully treated tinea versicolor?
I am taking Ketoconazole for Tinea versacolor. I took a Xanax today to calm down. Well… AFTERWARDS, I read that the two is a major drug interaction. It says something about interpatient variability. What does interpatient variability mean? PLEASE help.
I have tinea versicolor and have used the Ketoconazole cream to try to get rid of it, but it didn’t help. I want to try the 200 mg pills, but I don’t want to pay for the visit to the dermatologist which would be about , plus the price of the prescription. Since I already know what I need, I’d rather just order the pill if that is at all possible. I called the dermatologist to see if they could just write me a prescription for the pill since I had been in already for the tinea versicolor and they said that it had been to long and that I would have to come in again. If anybody knows any way for me to get around this, any information would be beneficial. Thank you for your time!
