I suspect my cat has fungal infection on her ear. She’s lost some fur due to constant scratching. Can I use Lamisil on her ? Months ago, the vet gave Panolol to clean out the mites in her ears, but the problem still exists. What should I do next?
I have a persian kitten aged 3 months old. He was said to have a fungal infection last week by a local Vet and after just 4 days of medication he has many bald patches now. Is this normal?Has anyone got a simlar situation with their pets ever before?Would like to know what your experiences were…..soo wooried here.
and experienced a terrible cough as a side effect? My dog (7 lb pekingese mix) has been taking it for 2 days (100 mg 2x daily) and she had her third dose today. Since beginning this drug, she’s developed a terrible, nagging cough. She doesn’t seem to have any other side effects but it almost seems like she has a little trouble breathing at times (she begins to pant). I will call the vet in the morning and let them know that I’m going to discontinue this drug. Has anyone else experienced this?
My dog has a yeast infection and I don’t have enough money to take it to a vet. Are there any home remedies or shampoos that I can use to cure the yeast infection? Thank you.
I have a 9 month old maltipoo. He has a black discharge in his ears. But it’s not like what you’d expect with ear mites (it doesn’t look like coffee grounds which I’ve read is common.) It smells really bad and no matter what I’ve tried at home I can seem to figure it out. I tried using rubbing alcohol like I do for my other dog but it just won’t clear up. My vet is out of town for the month so I can’t see him now. So is this ear mites or an infection? Is it something that should be looked at right away or can it wait till the vet is back at then end of the month? Anything else I could try?
been treating with antifungal wipes fromt the vet, and he shaved around his eye and nose…
maybe it’s just crusting up… not sure. LOOKs like scabbing…

Our Labrador dog is very sensitive to skin fungal infection. For two years ,it has been to clinic to get medicine from vet very often almost every two months. When stop antifungal drug (normally 1 month of treatment), the skin problem come up again. Please kindly suggest and help.
I have a holland lop who is 4 years old. Her apetite has always been great, but she has had an excessive urination problem for 2 months now and she has had no fur around her butt, hind legs, and tail. So, I took her to see a vet who prescribed me an antibiotic called "sulfadimet 50mg"for 10 days. I gave it to her and I thought she was getting better, so I stupidly stopped it after the 4th day, and sure enough, the symptoms came back again. So, the vet prescribed me a different kind of antibiotic called "enrofox 27.2mg" because he had mentioned that she was already immune to the other antibiotic. I have her this one, but nothing changed. Her symptoms were still the same. She took a urine test and a blood test, both of which were very positive results. So, the vet assumed she had some fungus growing on her skin and prescribed me a medicine called "ketoconazole 200 mg" and an ointment for her skin called "conofite". I was starting to get worried and went to a vet that my friend had recommended me to, and they mentioned to me that we have to get to the "core" of the problem. We took xrays and found out that she had a spinal problem that was causing her to lose muscle, and had ulcers on her hind legs. The vet mentioned that because of this, she could be urinating on herself causing her skin to worsen. (I usually only use a shee-shee sheet in her cage. My rabbit used to use the potty bin, but ever since this problem she won’t use the potty in there anymore.) The vet figured that the skin problem arises from her sitting on the sheet (the sheet gets so soaked up with urine). So, the vet told me to continue with the antibiotics that the other vet recommended - enrofax. She also prescribed me an anti-inflammatory for her bones which will help her build muscle - luckily, she didn’t have arthiritis.
I am getting very scared and am wondering if I should stick to the vet that I changed to.
It’s been 4 days since I started the antibiotic - enrofox, but I haven’t seen much change. Should I be patient and wait until the effects start kicking in? Or, will it ever kick in? Does it take this long for an antibiotic to work?
I also recently got a dog about 5 months ago and am not sure if this affected the way my rabbit reacted. The vet recommended that I put soft cushioing in her cage for now so that the ulcers on her soles won’t hurt as much. It’s exactly what I did. I’m just very worried and can’t really focus on my work. Does anybody who may have experienced something like this have any advice? I would certainly appreciate it.
This started in January. We took in our fawn color Pug because she had a small round black spot on top of her paw and a semi-circular black spot on her hind leg - she also had a red crusty splotch on the inside of the same hind leg about the size of a half dollar. Vet took hairs for ringworm test and said to bathe her in Malaseb Shampoo twice a week and use Clotrimazole 1%. Didn’t help and Vet couldn’t say for sure it was or wasn’t ringworm - sample didn’t turn but grew fungus? Vet gave us Clavamox 62.5 mg twice a day plus continue with the other stuff. Still hasn’t cleared up - Vet is now prescribing Ketoconazole 200 mg Tabs 1/2 tab a day and Miconazole NIT cream 2% instead of the Clotrimazole 1% cream. But we still bathe her and give her the rest of the Clavamox pills until they’re gone. Does it sound like ringworm? or something else? How long will it take ringworm to clear up? It hasn’t gotten any better or worse. It’s still the same as it was when we started.
FUZZY-WUZZY WUZA NEWF - I’m sorry, but what can I ask? They told me they thought it was ringworm and pulled some hairs. I called them three times while waiting on the diagnoses and all they could say was it never turned but developed fungus. They put her on some other treatment and still said they thought it was ringworm and to try this new course of treatment. I called again and they still say they think it’s ringworm and to try this new course of treatment and then bring her back in after 4 weeks. What else should I ask the vet? I keep calling and they keep telling me they think it’s ringworm but it never turned.
Thank you for the info on that new pill - I’ll wait on that and just do the 4x a day anti-fungal cream with the 3x a week bath. I didn’t know all the side effects that pill had. Thank you for alerting me - I looked it up on-line.
Thank you for the suggestion … I am going to wait on the pill and do the 4x a day anti-fungal with the 3x a week bath. Hopefully, it will clear up.
CAT S and shauna - Thank you … I had no idea ringworm took so long to clear up. I guess I thought it should be gone by now. I’ve been watching our little male Pug and so far, he’s ok … but he has been getting the same bath she does. He gets his bath just before she gets hers. The vet made that suggestion since they’re always together.
