You need a prescription medicine called diflucan…taken twice a day for ten days. (It is the same medicine that is sometimes used to treat yeast infections…it’s a pill..but for yeast infections you only need to take one or two pills. For thrush, you need a longer-term dosage.)
You can try acidophilus, which does not require a prescription, but it is not only very expensive, but unlikely to work. See you doctor!!
Diflucan is more for a yeast infection down stairs. I think there is something else they can give you. It’s either drops or something for the mouth. Is this for you or a child?
You need a medication called mycostatin. Call your dentist or dr. Also start eating lots of yogurt. It helps regulate your system and your mouth will feel better sooner. Have you been on antibiotics? They strip your bad germs as well as your healthy germs. Yogurt can help with that. I always take extra yogurt when i am on an antibiotic.
Treatment of Oral Thrush
Antifungal medications are used to control the growth of candida albicans in oral thrush. A course of antifungal medication is given from between 5 to 10 days which are taken into the mouth an held as per instruction by the pharmaceutical company.
These antifungal medications include clotrimazole and nystatin.
A single dose medication is available called Diflucan.
It is important to see a doctor to make sure there is no serious reason that you have thrush.
