How to heal a bladder infection if you were stranded on a deserted island?
Anyone ever thought of it? My boyfriend (actually common law husband?) is just getting over a serious bladder infection that almost killed him. He had fever, chills and vomiting for a couple of days before he finally got DEATHLY sick and ended up in the hospital with sepsis. The wonders of modern science. It got me thinking if we were both stranded on a deserted island and this happened, how would I get him over it? Would I be able to get him over it or would he just die? Maybe this is something that should be taught in a survival class because it COULD happen!

Roxann you probably would not have a ready supply of pills on a deserted island. Besides some people can’t take them. If I take even one I get horrible cramps. I can’t imagine how badly the condensed acidity of the product is eating away my stomach lining. If you could find cranberries, or any other acidic food it could help, Also allot of fresh water. However if you were already that far along with the infection, you would probably not be able to get rid of it, and it would eventually kill you.
Here are some other natural remedies for bladder and urinary infections.

Carry Cranberry pills. I am a long time sufferer of UTIs and have found that taking a couple of cranberry pills each day prevents UTI. The high level of whatever they have (acidity maybe) will not allow bacteria to grow in the urinary tract. For some reason I also think they keep me from getting sick as it has been years since I have been.
um, hm Get lots of cranberry juice and water, and somehow have antibiotics w/u.
umm… somebody’s been watching too much Lost, I think…
If you ever get stranded on a deserted isle, you better hope there is a cranberry bush, or at least a pineapple tree. the juice from both of these will treat uti’s. Makes you glad you didn’t live in the good old days, doesn’t it, back before all the cool meds we have access to. It’s pretty amazing that our average life expectancy was 40 only 150 years ago…back then, you got sick, you died!
The active ingredient in these fruits is D-Manose, a sugar which inhibits the growth of bacterium in the urinary tract.
